The Debate Rages On: PC vs Mac for my business.

Lola

Let's get one thing straight: I am no tech guru, computer genius or computer hardware whiz. I am a bit computer and Internet savvy and I do consider myself capable of using various programs.

I am a PC user, always has been. I currently own a Sony VAIO laptop that I purchased late 2007. While it has lasted me a good while considering most people opt to get new laptops every two years, unfortunately, I was not exempt from suffering many problems with my VAIO. These problems ranged from Spyware issues, slow performance, little to no battery life and a stint I had last year where my VAIO had to visit the PC hospital for a good 3 weeks - near suicide for a Blogger like myself. The issue was related to my battery and the computer's hardware that I was only able to have fixed due to my ownership of the $200 Warranty from Heaven Staples.

During this difficult time, I was forced to consider that I soon would have to part with my VAIO (that was soon becoming less and less my favorite machine) and I began to flirt with the idea of possibly crossing over to the Mac side of things. I turned to my Twitter family to hear their opinions on the subject and received some pretty good responses; very spirited responses. At the end of the day, I realized that I had various needs for my computer so I would need to find a machine that performed to fit those needs. Also, the needs of my peers, Twitter family or friends were not always in congruence with mine, so their opinions did not always matter.

Technology is Everywhere

clickflick

In today’s society everywhere you look Technology has an influence in the way we live and do things everyday. From the moment you wake up an electronic alarm awakes you. Power the television for the morning news and listen to the traffic and news updates. The news channel you are watching is probably all decked out with live feeds from cameras and In-studio video displays. The point is that Technology is everywhere and it continually evolves. It truly is an amazing time to be living in this time of new “Technology” advancements in our everyday world.

3D televisions, Crowd sourcing, Smartphones, Ecommerce, and Augmented Reality are mostly new terms associated with Technology today. If your parents read this article they would not recognize or understand most of the terms mentioned. If they do then consider yourself one of the lucky few. Trying to explain to my parents how to text message is like trying to put a square piece into a circle puzzle, it’s just not going to happen. Our parents never had to use email, smartphones or computers. Remember the rotary dial phones and the pencil and paper to write and send messages with a stamp. Maybe those times where much simpler and technology has just complicated the way we do things. Don’t you find that it is very hard to keep of with new technology? Do you think Technology has helped or created more problems for us? It would be interesting to see with certain age demographics especially the older generation of their thoughts on Technology.

Wireless Transfer of your images : Eye-Fi SD Card

clickflick

Did you recently get a digital camera over the holidays? If you answer “Yes”, you are not alone. Everyone has a digital camera and millions of pictures are be taken every second in this world. From the top-end professional photographer to your 12 yr old niece. Taking pictures has become so easy because the average digital card can take over 500-1000 actuations at the most basic settings. The eventual problem with the ease of use of a digital camera is the amount of pictures being stored on SD cards. The traditional method of downloading pictures from your camera is to attach your camera directly to your computer or insert you photo card to a traditional card reader to be viewed on your computer. Personally, I own mutiple SD cards and take lots of shots whenever I can. I always have the issue of backing up photos or forgetting to download the last bunch of photos from a previous event. I sometimes have 3 to 4 SD cards loaded with photos that needed to be downloaded. I’m not the only one in this situation, right? I digress.

This is where Eye-Fi comes in to save the day. The Eye-Fi SD card is the easiest way to save and share photos. The Eye-Fi card basically makes your camera wireless. No more plugging your camera to download pictures or using a card reader. No more SD card clutter. If you are using an Eye-Fi card it will automatically download your photos wirelessly to your computer via Wi-fi. How does this work? The Eye-Fi SD card has a built-in Wi-Fi. Once you set-up an account with Eye-Fi all you need to do is set the network and the Eye-Fi card will transfer all your media. You can have all your photos/videos uploaded to sharing sites most popular for photos such as Flickr, Facebook, Youtube and more. Imagine walking into your home after a day of taking photos and your pictures will automatically connect to your computer and download all your media hassle free. This saves you time to enjoy the other pleasures in life and leave the mundane uploading  to the Eye-Fi card to work automatically. Check the website for more details and where you can buy one. http://www.eye.fi
